Greetings & Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! My name is Adriana Martinez. This is my 16th year teaching Special Education. I graduated from Texas A&M University - Kingsville in 2002 with my Bachelor's degree in Human Sciences, followed by my Master's degree in Special Education from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi in 2008.
My certifications include, Special Education EC-12th grade, Generalist 4-8th, & Generalist EC-6th. Over the course of my teaching career, I have taught multiple core subjects across almost all grade levels, but have found the most rewarding experience and joy teaching at the primary level.
This is currently my 6th year here in Calallen and I look forward to another very exciting, successful year leading the Behavior Support Inclusion Program. I truly enjoy working alongside Mrs. Kayla Cardona with a phenomenal group of kiddos here at Wood River Elementary and plan to continue helping our students learn and grow for many years to come.
I served as the Special Education Chair for our campus for the previous couple of years & as Department Leader in previous school districts, including Donna ISD & McAllen ISD . I have also previously coached Girls JV Soccer at Calallen High School, and this year am proud to announce I will be our Campus Coordinator for Wood River's U.I.L. Academic Team! Go Cats!
In my free time I enjoy traveling, shopping, camping, and going to the beach with my amazing family of 5 and our Siberian Husky Oakley!
Please reach out if I can be of assistance.
Adriana Martinez, M.S. Ed.
