contact me Hello! My name is Karen Sims.  I am on my 19th year teaching at Wood River and my 23rd year of teaching total.  I began my teaching career in Minnesota where I grew up and graduated from St. Cloud State University .  After 4 years of teaching at a private school there, my husband who also teaches in the district, and I packed up all our belongings and traveled here to Corpus Christi for a new adventure!  That was years ago... Here at Wood River I have taught 9 years in 3rd Grade and  switched to 2nd Grade in 2013. I love teaching Reading and Language Arts. Now l teach all subjects as self contained.  I want each child to walk out of my classroom at the end of the year loving to read and write.  Sometimes all it takes is one book or author to get them hooked for life! I have been married for over 26 years and have three sons.  Asher is in high school and Levi is in middle school. We also have a baby boy who is now here at Wood River. We love to travel, be outdoors, and have Popcorn Movie Night as a family. A folder will be sent home each day that contains the weekly spelling words, behavior chart.  Please check the folder daily.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me.
