Mr. Valperts is currently the Director of Bands at Calallen High School. This is his second tenure at Calallen High School, serving as the Assistant Director of Bands and Percussion Director from 2004-2006. Mr. Valperts is from Illinois and attended the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. He is a former member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and the Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Valperts has been teaching since 1994 and has been the Percussion Director at Mater Dei Catholic High School, O’Fallon Township High School, and Calallen High School. He has also been the Head Band Director at Collinsville High School, Munster High School and Robstown High School. Mr. Valperts is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, the National Association of Music Educators, is a member of the Vic Firth Corporation Educational Team, and served as the TEXAS 4A All-State Percussion Coordinator.

Mr. Valperts is a devoted Chicago Cubs fan. He is married to Kami Valperts and has two wonderful children, Madalyn and Zackary Valperts.
